Anniversary Road Trip

Hello readers!

We have 5 months to go till our 1st wedding anniversary on August 10th! I can't believe it's so soon & will be here before we know it!! Everyone loves an August wedding!! My lovely cousin Jacque is getting married to her fiancé Nick on Saturday August 9th in Cincinnati. Tim and I are so excited we will be able to attend! Especially because her reception is at the Montgomery Inn!! 😉 My Dad's 60th birthday is August 7th, my Grandma's 84th birthday & Jacque's wedding are August 9th & our anniversary on Sunday August 10th so there will be a lot of celebrating that week!!

The original idea was to fly into Dayton the Wednesday before on August 6 & fly out the Wednesday after on August 13! But then I looked up flights. I know it's early to look for flights but I thought it may give me a ballpark figure. We would also want to rent a car for the week so we can travel around to visit friends.

Right now, the flights from NY to Dayton are the typical $350 a piece. My friend Leah suggested flying into Detroit and renting a car from there. Flights there are $250. So much cheaper but then we'd have to rent a car too. Long story short, I thought, what if we make it a Anniversary Road Trip so we could actually have some time together for just us. Tim & I discussed it today and decided that is what we are going to do. Yay!

Soooooo, the plan is to rent a car and leave from NY on Sunday August 3rd or Monday August 4th and work our way to Dayton by Tues or Wed. I would like to relax in Dayton for the week, (my parents have a pool), then leave Dayton at the beginning of the following week after all the festivities, drive north to Bowling Green to visit friends then drive back to NY, while exploring!

As most of you know, Tim doesn't drive, so I would be the only one behind the wheel. I don't mind that at all. I actually sort of miss driving. I can usually go for about 4-5 hrs before I need to stop. So the way to Ohio, we'd stop and stay the night somewhere. We are even thinking of just a cheap motel! If anyone can think of any TO-DO things from NY to OH along I76, let me know!

On the way back to NY, I think we will need to stop at Cedar Point! Tim's never been and it's been since college for me! We would stay the night there too! Are there any things YOU can think of from north Ohio to NY?

I downloaded an app called RoadTrippers. If gives info along your trip if you want to stop. Also, info on hotels & attractions close by to where you are located using your gps. I am going to do some research on there too.

I thought I would throw out this blog to see if anyone has any places to suggest! I'm so excited! It's going to be a blast! We will have to think of a hashtag for it! Hahaha!! #Always

Bored outta my mind!

So we are almost at 7 months of being Mr & Mrs Cox. The months have flown by even though we haven't really been doing much. Tim just started his tour guide season. His first student tour started this past Friday. He's been gone all day and comes home around 11pm to sleep and get up at 630am to meet up with the group again. He loves being a tour guide. He is so energized and excited to be busy.

Me, on the other hand, seriously need something to do during the day. My current babysitting job is great. I work mostly 3-9pm or 5-11pm five times a week. The baby & parents are fantastic too. I really enjoy working for this family. I just need something else to do before work to keep me from being the laziest person on the earth. For instance, today I didn't have to work till 5pm and what did I do all day.....slept in untill 10:30am & watch back-to-back episodes of How I Met Your Mother on Netflix till 3:30. Seriously, what the heck!? Plus, it was the first spring like day outside and I sat inside all day. What is wrong with me?! I'm bored! I need a purpose!

I want to start blogging and crafting more. Or get a part time day job that makes me get up & out of my apartment. I don't know why I've been so freaking lazy! I annoy myself!!! Help!! I need some kind of challenge or something to help me get out of this funk!!

Well, it's 10:30pm on a Saturday night, the baby has been sleeping since 7pm & I have 30 more minutes to go! I guess look through Facebook and Instagram and count down the minutes.

Officially a Cox!

Last week I traveled to the Social Security Adminstration of New York City to apply to change my last name from Barlow to Cox. It's wayyyyy downtown but, fortunately, my friend Lindsay came with me because she needed to change her name too. She got married on December 21st and is doing this a lot quicker than me! Anyways, we met early because we didn't want to be stuck in a long line. When we arrived, we literally waited 1 minute. There wasn't a single person waiting!! It was the quickest thing I've ever waited for!

After that, I decided to go to the DMV for my new driver license. I thought for sure there would be a long line because 1) there's always a long line at the DMV 2) the SS office was so quick, knowing my luck, I'd be at the DMV for hours.

I walked in & grabbed a number. I took off my coat & my number is called. Shocked I walked over to the photo area & got my picture taken! I had to sign the piece of paper with my new name for to print on the license! Cool but surreal! It felt so crazy to be signing Jamie Cox instead of Jamie Barlow after 34 years of living!

After the new photo, I sat for about 5 minutes till my number was called for the application process. The guy behind the counter was so friendly and congratulated me on my recently marriage. He asked me where I was born. When I told him Ohio & he said, "I just broke up with someone from Ohio, but I can tell you're nicer than her!"  I just laughed....what else could I do?!

I was literally at the DMV for 9 minutes!! I couldn't believe it! I gave myself the whole day to do both the Social Security office & DMV & I was finished by 10:45am! All around awesome day!!

So today I received my new license & SS card in the mail! The license is a new design! Haven't seen one like this before! The little picture on the right isn't a hologram, it's see through! Also, it's in black & white when the last one was in color!!

So let me sign off for the first time officially as: Jamie Marie Cox!!

Xoxo,

Falling asleep is Hard

Is it just me or is falling asleep hard?? I usually lay in bed for for at least 30-45 mins before crashing. Tim falls asleep right away! We always go to bed at the same time and once he kisses me goodnight and lays his head on the pillow, he's out! Me, on the other hand, lay there thinking about everything. I think about what to I'm doing that week, month, year. What dinners I'm making that week, even if I've already planned them. Then I think about job stuff, how to get more editing jobs, how to get money to buy a new computer..... The list goes on and on.

This is how I feel most of the time:

Does anyone else feel that way?? Or is it just me! Once I fall asleep, I'm usually down for the count but recently it's taken me over an hour to fall asleep! I'll look at Facebook in the dark to tire out my eyes. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't!

Who knows! I guess I shouldn't complain and be thankful for the sleep I do get now because as soon as we start having kids, I hear sleep is sacred! Haha!!

Happy Wednesday!

Happy New Year!!

Hello family & friends,

Happy New Year! It's cold here in NYC but not as cold as some places! We are planning on hunkering down for the next few days while the bitter cold passes through.

I want to start blogging more in the new year. So here I go!

I am currently back to babysitting, 4 times a week, all at night, so I have my days free. The office job just wasn't for me! I realized  "once a freelancer, always a freelancer", which is fine because it gives me time to do the things I really want to accomplish. I'm working on getting back into video editing. Also, for Christmas, my family bought Tim & I this amazing camera so I'm looking forward to getting back into photography too!! As soon as it warms up a bit, Tim & I are planning on doing his new head shots! I've very excited about the camera because it's a legit camera & not just a point and shoot!

Tim has been busy working on different projects! He's much better at updating his actor blog! Check him out here: http://everymanactor.blogspot.com

I've made a list of things I want to accomplish in 2014. The month of January I am purging & organizing the apartment. This past weekend I went through all of our shoes & all of my T-shirts (I have a lot!!) Maybe I'll blog on how I'm doing this. The only thing that stinks is that our one and only laptop died a few weeks before Christmas & so we have just been using our phones! I'm currently typing this on my iPhone. I'm not sure how effected (or is it affected? I never know!) this will be over the phone!! If anyone knows how we can get money for a MacBook sooner than later, please let me know! It's been hard not having a computer!! #firstworldproblems

Anyways, JANUARY is Get Organized & Get Rid of Useless Crap month!!!!
So far:
1) 12 pairs of shoes
2) 8 t-shirts
3) old George Forman grill
4) old & useless bed sheets

More tomorrow! I'm working off this list...not necessary in order though!

Some of these I can eliminate since some of the don't apply to us, but I do think it's very helpful! Tomorrow I'm thinking of tackling my closet & under the bed! Not sure what's under there. I am thinking of going through it and labeling it all!! Yes, that's kind of OCD of me but why not!?! I'd love to get all these stuff organized while I'm not as busy!

What kind of things do you do to keep organized???

Till next time,
Jamie

MR & MRS COX

It's been a little over 2 months since we got hitched! It was the best day ever! Everything turned out exactly how I imagined!! I know it's clique to say but it was truly a magical day! I couldn't have asked for a more perfect wedding day!!

Tim and I leave for our honeymoon in 2 weeks. We are going to Siesta Key, Florida!! I'm so excited to go relax for a week! I started my new job a week after the wedding and so far so good. It's a lot of work learning all the ropes, so the honeymoon will be a welcomed week off!!

Tim has been working a lot on many different projects. Check out his blog for updates.

I'll try to keep this blog updated more, I promise!!

27 Days till Mr & Mrs

Hello Family & Friends,

We have 27 days until we become husband and wife. It's an overwhelming and surreal feeling but we are very excited for the day to arrive. We currently have all the big stuff paid! We just need to purchase mixers for the bar, ice to be delivered and our peanut butter cup cheesecake.

I currently have my dress hanging in our "wedding room". I've had it since July 5th. It's in a white garment bag so Tim won't see it, but he also doesn't want to see it. I still hung up a few dresses over it so he won't be tempted! :) He's a good boy. He won't look!!!

I started my new job a few weeks ago. I am the new personal assistant for a top realtor in NYC and her family. I am working 3 times a week there and then I'm still babysitting twice a week til August 2nd. Then I'll have 2 weeks off for the wedding. August 19th I start full time! It's excited because it's a salary job with benefits! I'm very excited to get started and into it full time. I'm such an organized person, I think this will be a good job for me.

Hey, folks...Tim here to say hello. I'm so excited about the big day on August 10th and sharing it with all of you. My tour season has come to an end and it was a good one. The money from my tours helped us in a major way when it came to paying for the wedding. I'm still busy with numerous acting projects, including film projects here in NYC, as well as in Boston. I'm so happy for Jamie and her new job. She's already working her tail off. So proud and happy for her.

Okay, Jamie's back. I wanted to let you guys know about our Live Feed of our wedding ceremony. Since we weren't able to invite everyone we wanted to because of our small venue, we have decided to do a live broadcast online of the ceremony. Here are all the details you'll need....

August 10, 2013
Ceremony starts at 3:30 but we'll start broadcasting at 3:20

We really hope you'll be able to watch us become husband & wife! We'll blog again after the wedding!!

Thank you all again!
Love,
